More importantly, the state is ranked as the most manufacturing county in the country. In addition, the county is known for its service line of employment with most of citizen relying on the employment sector to generate income. The site therefore has to align with the economic activity of the state. Therefore, due to the availability of the several economic activities, the architectural site must be able to support diversity in economic creation in the area. Being one of the populous state, the political stability of the county is high and thus every decision must involve consultation and align with the political waves[2]. Both the state and federal governments has rules regarding the sites for this purpose and this means that the site must meet the different standard. A mayor and a 15-member council head the municipal government in the location. In line with these political leaders, the architectural site must meet the specific standards, which the members have aligned. In addition, the political arena appoints different board of supervision. This board has to ensure that the site must meet the different standard, which the political arena has aligned[3]. In addition, the cultural sector of the area must be met. Los Angeles have different cultural believes which are divided among the different ethnic groups in the region. The architectural site must be able to support the traditions of the people in order to come up with the viable solu tion in Los Angeles. In addition, the location is able to support quality and visual, literacy and musical performances of different groups. The introduction of this architectural site must meet the different standards, which the location has set concerning the cultural performances of the people. The cultural centers, which are in the location, must not be affected by the introduction of this architectural site. The site nevertheless must be available to promote the agendas of this site and therefore help to promote the cultural goals of Los Angeles. Impact of the architectural site As part of the dynamic economic activities, the accessibility to the specific materials in the architectural site is high. The area is enriched with different materials, which will enhance the progress of the project within the Los Angeles site. First and for most, the work force is a key material to the achievement of this kind of project. The area is identifies to depend on the employment sector and this will promote the availability of the services required on this site. The architectural site and project depends highly on the services, which will be provided by different individuals and firms. This will be key on the reasons why this project should be located at this area and enhance the implementation stage. In addition, the project follows the need of different manufacturer and specifically tailored materials[4]. As part of manufactures core area in United States, Los Angeles will offer these materials to the foulest and enhance the implementation of the project. The main impac t of the architectural site on the material access is that it will increase of the demand of the materials. With the increase of the demand due to the site, the prices of the materials are likely to increase following the laws of demand and supply. The increase of the demand is able to create more wealth to the hands of the people in Los Angeles. This is likely to promote the economy of the Los Angeles location. The conceptual services are likely to be affected by the location of the sites in this location. First, the demand of these services will hike due to the location of the site. The services in the location will increase and thus help to promote the economic factor in the location. The conceptual part of the location will be seen from the increased economy of the area. The services sector will be enhanced due to the creation of the different jobs due to the architectural site in the area. The serviced promotion is one of the conceptual factor in the area, which will be promoted through the availability of the architectural site. In addition, another conceptual factor, which will be affected due to the location of the architectural site in Los Angeles, is the culture. Since the area is highly reconnection and tourist destination, the culture of the people is likely to change. This will be brought abought by the different merging of the different cultures. The merging of the culture of t he people in Los Angeles will lead to formation of new social culture. This will lead to emergence of new conceptual factor concerning the culture of the location. Lastly, the existence of the architectural site ion this location will lead to impacts on functional relations. The different systems in the locations such as the roads and other centers will be affected. The site is likely to attract high number of people and therefore enhance the accumulation of traffic on the regions[5]. More importantly, the time factor will be affected due to this where the stressing of the roads will lead to delays to different locations. The need to have new such structures will arise and the existence of the site will affect the structures. The architectural site on Los Angeles will influence the administration in the location as part of the functional relation. Additional responsibilities to the administration will help to manage the structures, which will be set up on the architectural site on this location. The requirement for more management staffs will be needed to enhance the management of the site and therefore new demands for the administration will r ise as part of the functional relation[6]. In overall, the new responsibilities and demand will arise due to the availability of the site in the location. the functional relations will be requirements to meet these demands in the location. This will ranges of the available structures and the administrative parts in Los Angeles. The main effect on these structures is hat new needs will arise which will require to be met at the end. The architectural site will stress the structure and new options will be required to meet the needs. The new needs and demands will lead to change of the functional relations to meet the requirements. This will enhance the operation in the area and thus the architectural site will be key on what is needed in Los Angeles. Architectural theories One of the major architectural theories in relation to the site is the functionalism theory. The theory is where the architects base their design on research and in imaginative capacity of the laymen in the sites. The findings from the studies and the empirical researches are therefore implemented on the architectural sites to enhance the implementation of the projects. The theory is able to enhance the implementation stage of the architectural projects on the chosen site[7]. In addition, Los Angeles is able to depend on the employment and service part for the industry. More importantly, this theory is perfect to ensure that different designs, which are able to suit the location, are chosen. The theory offers the opportunity for the lay people who work out of experience to have their views implemented on the architectural site. The choice of this theory will prove the existence of the success of the project. The different views and ideas will be merged together and thus enhance the s uitability of the architectural project on Los Angeles. Another important theory, which is key on the location, is the postmodernism and deconstruction. This theory relies on creation of an architecture that will be enjoyable and clarity of the goals of the project. This theory demand that the rules must be followed to the latter which is not very easy. Many of the architects believes that in order to achieve the best architecture, rule must be bend in order to meet the different standards[8]. The architectural process is full of uncertainties and problems, which must be solved on the way. The different rules may be unable to solve these rules and this will require creativity and choice of other methods that will suit the situations. In addition, aesthetics demand a lot and this will mean that the rules, which are strict and direct, cannot be used to implement the type of designs required. The contemporary discourse theory has been an important theory in the architecture works. The theory is concerned with the culture of the particular localities and therefore able to use it to implement the projects. The philosophical part is able to play a major role on the theory and helps to implement the theory in different architectural sites. The theory shows that the culture consideration helps to implement the acceptability of the project among the people in the location[9]. The social factors and the cultural dynamics are able to play a key role on the different projects being implemented on sites. Therefore, this theory playa a key role on the way the projects will be able to work and ensure that implementation of the architectural site is perfect. Digital architecture is another theory, which exists in the architecture of different sites. The theory holds that the architecture projects must evolve with technology and reinforce each work in opposition. The theory involves the examination of nature, the existing models, systems, processes and elements to ensure that the sites are perfect for implementation of the projects in order to solve human problems[10]. The architects use this theory to come up with new models of designs and develop a new formal language. Lastly, another theory in the architecture is the cultural theory. This theory relies on the traditional methods, which are defined in what is expected to meet the standards. The theory does not consider changes in the technology in the choice of the site and therefore hinder the factual implementation strategies. The digital architecture theory is key for the implementation strategy in the Los Angeles site. The main reason is that the theory will consider the technological changes in the area in order to achieve a desirable project, which will be accepted by all people. Critical insights about the effects of the architectural site The population of L.A is diverse and increasing at a high rate. The major effect of the site is that it will help to accommodate the different ethnic groups in the region, which will help to boost the urban area economy. In addition, the site will lead to rural urban movement of the people in L.A. increased population in the urban center may lead to more industrial pollution in the area. The sub urban and rural areas will experience de-marginalization due to the continued improvement of the urban structures in order to meet the new demands. In addition, the people migration to the urban area will lead to economic sabotage of these two regions in order to improve the stressed urban structures, which are available as a result of the site. The changes leading to the improvement of the urban structures will lead to business movement from the rural areas and sub urban area[11]. This will mean that the growth of the urban area will be more and the rural and sub urban areas will be sacrific ed on these developments. Social amenities are likely to improve in order to accommodate the new growing demand on the region due to the site. This factor enhances the different social interaction and facilities in the region. Security is another area which the administration will likely look to improve on the urban area. This will enhance the business operations in the urban area while neglecting the sub urban and rural area. These changes will promote the businesses and operations on the urban locations which will be surrounding the architectural site. These changes are able to affect the rural society and lead to their lack of improvement. Nevertheless, the urban society is able to improve highly due to the existence of the architectural site on those locations. The improvement of the urban area will range from the improved social amenities in the area and the security factor. The administration will have a greater focus on the urban location where the site will be located in order to offer the different services. References Anderson, Donald A. Alcoholism essays

Alcoholism essays Alcoholism is a chronic disease caused by a craving for alcohol. People suffering from this illness are referred to as alcoholics. They do not know how to control there drinking problem even when it causes a serious harm to their health and this could lead to medical disorders, marital difficulties, job loss, or automobile crashes. Alcoholism can be influenced by genetic, psychological and social factors. It cannot be cured, but many treatment options can help an alcoholic to avoid drinking and live a healthy and safe life. When a person consumes alcohol, the stomach and intestines rapidly absorb it. From there alcohol travels in the blood throughout the entire body, affecting nearly every tissue. High doses of alcohol depress the functions of the central nervous system, including the brain. The higher the alcohol level in the blood, the greater the impairment (Encarta). As the blood passes through the liver, enzymes break down alcohol into byproducts, which are eliminated after six to eight hours from the body. The alcohol remains in the body, producing intoxicating effects after the last drink is taken. Smaller quantities of alcohol reduce inhibitions and produce feeling of relaxation and happiness. Larger amounts of alcohol causes greater impairment to the brain and usually impairs sexual performance, particularly in males. When a person is intoxicated, theyre thinking and perception skills become blunt. Alcohol reduces anxiety, guilt, worries and often leaves a person feeling good about themselves (Goon 261). Why You Cant Market A Book Youre Not 100% Proud Of An Interview

Why You Cant Market A Book Youre Not 100% Proud Of An Interview "You can’t market a book that you’re not 100% proud of" - An Interview with ex-SS editor Kiele Raymond As the Reedsy marketplace keeps growing and welcoming exceptional designers and editors, we wanted to interview one of our early â€Å"stars†, as her story is one that many East Coast editors can refer to.After five years honing her editorial skills at Simon Schuster and contributing to multiple New York Times bestsellers, Kiele Raymond eventually left traditional publishing to focus on what really matters: great content. As an editorial consultant on the beautiful New Hampshire seacoast, she helps authors fine tune their voice with detailed and constructive criticism, and especially loves working on suspense, historical and contemporary fiction, and memoir with an ethnographic twist. We’ll discuss editing careers, what â€Å"developmental editing† actually means, as well as give advice to starting authors or your editors out there.Hi Kiele, good to have you here. I really like your story because I think it’s one that many of our editors on Reedsy can rela te to: you previously worked in-house for Simon and Schuster and are now freelance and focusing on developmental editing (or editorial assessments). Did you find that this is what you were most skilled at during your time at SS?I’ll always be grateful that my publishing career started at SS because they’ve built such a strong and collaborative community of editors. From the very beginning, I was able to study the craft under the very best in the business. It’s true that the editorial department shoulders a lot of responsibility in traditional publishing. On top of acquiring impactful content and making sure each final manuscript is the best version of itself, they’re constantly advocating for their list when it comes to marketing, publicity, cover design, back cover copy, and sales placement. In fact, most actual editorial work (reading, content and line edits) happens at night or over the weekend. It’s a 24/7 kind of job – some of my very b est friends are still hustling down there in NYC and I could not admire them more. But yes, I think most book editors enter the fray because they are first and foremost passionate about developing great writing. It was certainly always my primary goal to cultivate a keen editorial eye and help authors maximize their potential. Luckily, in my new role as editorial consultant, that’s exactly where my focus lies.Do you think that developmental editing or content editing has surged in prominence since self-publishing has become more popular?Yes – I do think that self-published authors are more and more cognizant of the innumerable benefits of involving a professional. It’s also helpful that it’s getting so much easier to find us. Just a few years ago, first-time authors were hard pressed to find someone who had been in the trenches of traditional publishing. Now there are multiple avenues.I’ve seen several authors in your testimonials mention that your work was almost â€Å"intuitive†. How big is the role of intuition in an editorial consultant’s job, in your opinion? And how could starting editors develop their content editing skills?Well, I do think that a huge part of editing is the ability to listen very carefully to the author’s voice. At the end of the day, it’s their story. If something’s not working, I don’t immediately go for the cut. I figure out what they’re trying to say in that moment and work with them to make sure it has the effect they intended. It’s a little like acting – you need to inhabit the character but also bring your own experience to the table. This is especially important to me when I’m working on memoirs.Advice for future editors? Read voraciously. You can’t become fluent in storytelling if you’re not constantly studying a wide range of material. Like many of my colleagues, I majored in English Literature. It was a great introduction to the literary canon, but by the time I graduated I was woefully behind in all things contemporary. I spent many sleepless nights catching up. Like any industry, if you want to do well in the marketplace you have to know what you’re up against. Are there any differences in working with an independent/hybrid author? Does the absence of a traditional publishing structure change the way you communicate with the author? When it comes to developmental editing, my job remains largely the same. I do everything I can to make the book better. Some manuscripts do need more grunt work than others, but I’ve found that it varies just as much outside of traditional publishing as it does inside. I’ve also been lucky to consistently work with authors that are extremely open to constructive criticism. It’s always gratifying – and often surprising – to see how they incorporate my notes into the next draft.Do you still have contact with agents sin ce you left Simon   Schuster? What do you think the role of agents can be for indie authors?Yes – I also still have very close friends on the agenting side. There’s always a strong bond formed between junior agents and editors as they climb the ladder together. I do know a few agents who make it their business to seek new talent in the self-publishing community. For instance, Sempre is a book I edited at Gallery that was originally an indie bestseller before an agent snapped it up and brought it to us. I think some indie authors still harbor ambitions to see their book sold nationally in print. Agents can help them make that happen. Are there any books in your portfolio that you especially enjoyed working on?An impossible question! I will say there are a few â€Å"firsts† that hold a special place in my heart. Bruce by Peter Ames Carlin and The Girls of Atomic City by Denise Kiernan were the first books I worked on that became New York Times bestsellers. It doe sn’t hurt that both authors are great talents and great humans.I also have to give a shout out to my first acquisition – Behind the Gates of Gomorrah by Steve Seager. It’s an unbelievable story. Here’s a feature in the New York Times. In an increasingly competitive publishing landscape, what might your recommendation be for authors deciding on how to divide their budgets between editorial work and marketing?I actually got my start at SS as an intern in the marketing department in 2009 and I still write reading group guides for their book club outreach campaigns. I think both editorial and marketing professionals can wholeheartedly agree that you can’t market a book that you’re not 100% proud of. Luckily, editorial budgets can be fixed. Find an editor you trust, listen to them, and do the hard work. When you’re done, be very honest with yourself about your ideal reader and target those markets. If your book has legs, your audience will do the work for you. When I work on a book, I don’t just improve the writing until it reaches a certain standard of professionalism. I impart any and all knowledge (marketing and other) that will help the author feel equipped to send their book into the world. You are a Reedsy editor:  how important do you think it is for quality freelancers to regroup in curated communities? What is your personal goal in joining them?I think it’s vitally important for authors to have access to professionals they can trust without having to rely on the big five. Organizations like Reedsy and NY Book Editors are doing the work to make those connections by recruiting tried and true editors that are excited to offer support to authors outside the relatively insulated New York network. In turn, I’m able to work with clients that I know are as invested as I am in creating great books. Finally, if you had one word of advice for authors (mainstream, indie, hybrid) in 2015, what would it be?Listen to your editor, but trust yourself. I’ve seen the most elegant solutions come from authors who took my note and then made it their own.Learn more about the differences between  developmental editing,  copy editing and  editorial assessments through these links. What’s been your personal experience with developmental editors? The major challenges for China, Why the past successful export led Term Paper

The major challenges for China, Why the past successful export led growth model cannot continue - Term Paper Example Over a period of three decades, China has established a market-based economy but, however, the establishment of market institutions remains unfinished (Naughton, 2007). The export-led growth was greatly assisted by channeling savings and labor into large scale physical and human labor investments. Further, the shift to markets from planning brought about efficiency in the allocation of resources while taking advantage of the industrial experience acquired during the socialist era. According to Norton (2007), the present economic period has exploited a long entrepreneurship and commercialization history both inside and outside the country, which has eased access to capital and savings. With an emphasis on economy, this paper will discuss the major challenges that China is facing and the reasons why its past successes based on growth that was fueled by exports cannot continue. It will further suggest how the Chinese economy should further be transformed. The key concern facing Chinaâ⠂¬â„¢s economy is the improbability of the continuation of the conditions that facilitated the 7% economic growth in the past 30 years, save for the slowly but steadily improving human capital (Garnaut & Song, 2005). However, the improving human capital may be negated by the rapidly aging professionals that will put a strain on the government’s capacity of healthcare and pensions. ... Although the changeover has resulted in improved standards of living, it has also led to higher economic risk and uncertainty. This is manifested by the worsening distribution of income, unemployment, unstable education, insufficient infrastructure and a badly structured health insurance framework (Zhang, 2008). The economy is in a state of imbalance because of overdependence on exports, with relatively low shares of GDP realized from domestic consumption in comparison to the status in majority of the developed countries. This has led to a never-ending overcapacity, aggravating the trade imbalance between China and its significant partners in trade, the result of which has been recurrent apprehension in mutual relationships with trading partners and, more critically, the United States (Liu, 2007). From the economic point of view, China may be said to be a victim of its own success (Garnaut & Song, 2005). None of its trading partners is enjoying the exponential growth rates that China has experienced, and their imports from China cannot remain the same, or at least in a way that can lead China to continued stability. Viewed in another way, the trading partners may maintain their level of imports, but, from the perspective of China, they would not sustain the growth rates they have seen in past years. After going through a period of humble monthly gains, the country was faced by unexpected drops in September in exports (Silk, 2013). This occurrence renewed the indications of weak points within the emerging markets that China has been trading with as significant partners. More importantly, it signals the restrictions of heavy dependence on more export growth to
